| About Us |
We first started trading at Camden
Market in the summer of 1997 under the name of “Free
Tibet Stall”. We were working in partnership
with KOMODO and Free Tibet Campaign. We were involved
in raising funds and promoting the Tibetan identity.
When we first started the stall, kids used to come
up to us and ask “can I have a Free Tibet”
and most of our customers would assume that we are
from either Thailand or Indonesia. But because of
our persistent effort in promoting Tibet and Tibetans;
nowadays we hardly get anyone who doesn’t
recognise a Tibetan or what a Free Tibet means (anyway
not in Camden market……..). Since than
we are regularly attending all the major music festivals
like Glastonbury, WOMAD, Reading, Leeds and Big
Chill flying the Tibetan flag and promoting our
cause. In 2002 we decided to change our name from
“Free Tibet” to “Tibet Dreams”
and make our own label clothing and accessories
in partnership with KOMODO.
KOMODO is a very successful fashion label in its
niche market. They are heavily involved in the production
and sourcing of the Tibet Dreams clothes. We do
all our production in Nepal at the KOMODO factory.
KOMODO and Tibet Dreams are a firm believer in fashion
with social responsibility. Therefore, you will
not find our producers and manufacturers underpaid
or mistreated and we do not at any point in our
production employ children. As for the Tibetan artefacts
we always source it from our Tibetan suppliers preferably
from a family owned small business. This way we
enjoy a close relation with them. As for our jewellery;
all the beads are imported from Nepal but it is
designed and made in our shop at Covent Garden by
NUNU (the Tibetan partner). She does the designing
as to maintain a Tibetan taste or style in our hand
made jewelleries. |
